Garlic Refried Black Beans

We actually eat these for breakfast a lot, but they are also the perfect side dish to your next Mexican food night.

  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 can of whole black beans
  • olive oil
  • salt & pepper
  • optional: limeĀ  and crushed red pepper

  1. Chop the garlic and saute it in a tablespoon or two of olive oil
  2. Pour in the entire can of black beans including the liquid
  3. Simmer for a few minutes and use a masher to smash the beans.
  4. Squeeze in some lime juice, sprinkle the red pepper and add salt and pepper to taste (if your beans are not low-sodium you might not use much salt).
  5. Keep mashing until they seem to be a nice refried bean consistency and enjoy!
